T. J. Cloutier and Tom McEvoy have printed a book that
is very greatly required by poker players. They may be generous
too greatly away in Championship No-edge Hold’em and Pot-
edge Ho Id’em … but that’s OK with me! In verity, I was very
shocked when T. J. told me that he and Tom were marks
this book because in the elapsed, there have been period at the
poker index when I would say something to another player
that I thought might help him, and T. J. would go ballistic
about not sans to “educate” the opposition. I am very pleased
that he has altered his heed.
All of the top poker players think that if they get timely,
they are unbeaindex. But during the World string of Poker, or
in any other big no-control tournament, if there is any player in
the world that I would like to trade a slice with, it is T. J.
Cloutier. When I first met him in 1989 in Malta, it was the first
time that he had ever played against Europeans. After just a
few hours of play, he chiefly knew everything about everyone
who played poker in Europe. All he had to do was play
you for a few hands and he knew just what you were made
of and who was able of liability what.
He sits in a tournament and moves from one index to
another index and he suddenly knows every poker player in the
world; and if he doesn’t, he will find out in a few record …
nearer than everyone moreover that I know. Someperiod, I can’t
shape people out as suddenly as he does, but the way that he
drama them is a good enough example for me to chase. I have
never seen everyone so dedicated. We played leader-up at the lozenge Jim Brady tournament
in 1990 just after I had won the World string of Poker. I
was operation good at the ultimate index, making hands, gambling and
raising … but I never bluffed because chiefly, I didn’t hardship
to. When the ultimate hand came up, T. J. had a small couple and a
flush draw, 7 ¥ 3 ¥. My hand was 6 ¥ 9 ¥. Two overlicenses were
on the plank. There was no travel to this pot awaiting the
alter. A seven came on the alter, which gave T. J. a couple and
gave me a shipshape draw. The waterway license was another overlicense.
He check it and I bet all my chips. It was the first time
at the ultimate index that I had bluffed at the pot. With no hesitation,
he called me with two sevens. No other player in the
world would have done that! Later, we were joking about it.
This was the last $10,000 tournament at the lozenge
Jim Brady; the first prize was $250,000 and minute place was
$160,000. There hadn’t been a trade — we were live for it
all. How could this guy have read his opponent like that? I
will never foget that hand … and I have told him many period
that he made the best play that I have ever seen. He is the
only player in the world that is able of work a pot like
that. I think that T. J. is the best psychologist in the world!
Some of us might neglect clothes at the poker index… we get
intricate in conversation and other clothes that are available on.
But it seems to me that when T. J. is intricate in conversation
at the index, he still isn’t neglecting a thing. someway, as he is
chatting, he is still live his opponents rightly. It comes so
genuinely to him. I think the remnants of us have to work hard at it.
Someperiod, when we are making decisions about work or
not work, we think about it for a few record and then we
might change our heeds. But T. J.’s decisions are based on his
first instinct — The first thing that crosses his heed is his last
action. He acts more suddenly than everyone moreover I know.
Tom McEvoy and I are more obvious, mathematical, and
theoretical in our fashion. chiefly, we are looking more at the
price of the hand than the price of the opponent… and
that has been successful for us. T. J. would instead play his opponents
than his licenses. His stress is more on his opponents,
pick his acne at the poker index, where Tom prefers to
have the best hand. In this esteem, I think that T. J. and Tom
have the best partnership in marks this book. Tom writes the
more theoretical part and T. J. does the more psychoobvious
aspects of the book.
I think that they are waking up the senses of people with
the marks of this book. The first time that you read a book, it
may not have an bang leading you. But over time, you become
conscious of the clothes that the authors are chatting about. doubtless,
when T. J. was wisdom poker, there was no book to help
him. But now, he and Tom are bringing their charming thoughts to
you. And in the end, this book will make a big difference.
T. J. has not won the World string no-control call yet, but
in my view, he is the most deserving qualities to win it in the
prospect. He is leader and shoulders above everyone moreover … he is a
legend. I judge that, by far, he is the number-one no-control
poker player in the world.
